MATERIALS WE USE

Paper Each material has its own intrinsic beauty. Each made with varying amounts of recycled paper as well as FSC wood pulp and even bamboo, you'll never look at your Sunday morning read the same. These materials are soft and smooth, easy on the stemware and like a good wine, get better with age. The rich colors and textures of these materials truly complement a well made cabinet or the antique desk handed down from your father's father's father. And, being a certified fabricator of Richlite, we've shared more than a few cups of coffee designing and building and redesigning some great furniture and accessories for the home. And, by the way, yes the Shetkastone counterfeit green is real money and no, the countertops don't turn to mush from splashing dishwater, or a rainstorm for that matter.

or Plastic? Recycled detergent bottles create a spectacular mix of bold, bright colors sure to dress up a laundry or add punch to a powder room. They can't take the heat so they stay out of the kitchen! It's a versatile material for vertical & horizontal applications. It's fun for worktable tops, back splashes, partitions and oh, what about the kids room...

Bamboo & Other Woody Types Fast growing, plentiful, naturally charming & good looking, bamboo takes on several forms such as bamboo butcher block and plywood materials such as Plyboo. Used as wall cladding to warm up a space or as a top for a traditional kitchen Island, these bamboo materials take on a personality all their own, complementing any decorating style. Wood offerings range from reclaimed barnwood to salvaged planks with the added benefit of a live edge. Domestic hardwoods and FSC (Forest Stewardship Certified) wood from our friendly lumber supplier is also on our cut list. Interesting stuff like sunflower seed hulls and sorghum stalk make up some cool sheet goods we like to build with.

The Hard & Shiny Icestone, quite the icebreaker, comes in brilliant colors and will wow even the most loyal granite fan. Specks of recycled glass and/or mother of pearl sprinkle these slabs. For those smitten with its luxe, a bathroom floor paved in 18" tiles, a tub surround & vanity top should more than satisfy. Custom concrete affords the sparkle & shine as well as the personalized quality. With stones & recycled glass & marbles & shells & your grandmother's chipped yet endearing china, the combinations are endless. Fortunately, you don't have to go it alone - we are trained in creating the most perfect, delicious, sparkly, elegant, enduring countertops ever imagined. Or, you might be taken with one of the Chesapeake Series - designed by & available only at Miko Wheeler & Co., celebrating the area where we work and live and play.

Solid Surface One of the most versatile, forgiving and ready to please materials, Corian, LG Himacs, Staron and the others offer a shapely, seamless option. It's the little black dress of countertops. With so many color choices, integral sink styles and forming possibilities, this stuff fits the bill in any situation. Make it modern with a six inch edge or accessorize with an edge option fit for a Victorian Mansion. Oh, and you can't beat it for its rejuvenation qualities - a quick buff and the surface gleams like new. The best part, we can remove it, take it to your son's new house and retrofit it in his newly remodeled basement. It looks brand spanking new and will survive the football season, year after year.

Icing By far the coolest detail topping the kitchen or bath makeover, sustainably designed resins containing flowers or grasses or linen weave or fabulous shots of color. Used in a cabinet door or backlit as a back splash, these materials excite even the most seasoned designer with their endless uses and ability to put an exclamation mark at the end of every project!
